Tony Oursler Born in 1957 from New York City
Tony animates non living objects with the use of projectors and sound effects, he records videos and edit them to project on 3D things this makes his work very interactive and almost realistic as it uses the senses of sight and hearing. he has also done works with projectors shooting on the buildings which is similar to a event show in Auckland called "Nightlights With Telecom" which was organized by the Telecom company, the show does similar things to what Tony Oursler did. except they use it for business purposes. the show transforms buildings into interactive playgrounds of light where people get to help create the show.
Tony's Work was influenced and helped by the use of technology such as Televisions, Computer.

Tony has applied the enlightenment concept of science such as the use of Projectors this also shows the progress of technology improving from 2D art works such as paintings to a temporary paintings on non living objects which can be edited or turned on and off any time.
the enlightenment of freedom has influenced his work as in the olden days people are under the rules of the Kings and Queens, which people cannot just do art works anywhere on public.

  1. Tony Oursler' work personally is very dominant in terms of them being of a large scaled pieces. He explores his boundaries and pushes his work to create pieces like the ones above. He contributes the meaning of enlightenment and incorporates the concepts of science and freedom.

Science is the concept of knowledge which is merely based around experimental methods to expand human knowledge (Hamilton 1992, p. 97) .

His projections of deformed images expresses the view of mass media and the way in which it influences people to act, think and way of living. For me the images express the feeling of how people change physically and mentally which can be positive and negative. Why? Because change is good and bad and with Oursler' interpretation of how he views society through the concept of science is what every other artist is trying to portray through their art because of influence.
